BEETROOT (Red Beet):
(Beta vulgaris crassa). Sow October to January (cold), July to March (temp), AYR (trop), in soil well manured for the previous crop. Sow 2.5 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings out to about 5 cm apart.
A versatile variety that is ideal for Baby Beets, and also produces excellent larger roots. Roots are smooth and dark red.

(Beta vulgaris cicla). Sow 2.5 cm. deep spacing rows 60 cm. apart with 30 cm. between plants. Sow as for Beetroot.

This true Silverbeet is a favourite for taste. Leaves are smaller and less crinkled than regular varietiest, looking like large Spinach leaves. Can be picked over a long period.
