BEETROOT (Red Beet):
(Beta vulgaris crassa). Sow October to January (cold), July to March (temp), AYR (trop), in soil well manured for the previous crop. Sow 2.5 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings out to about 5 cm apart.
A versatile variety that is ideal for Baby Beets, and also produces excellent larger roots. Roots are smooth and dark red.

Deep Burgundy leaves with attractive zoned roots when sliced. Leaves are superb for leafy mixes, while the roots are tasty as baby beets or when larger.

SILVER BEET (Chard or Spinach Beet):
(Beta vulgaris cicla). Sow 2.5 cm. deep spacing rows 60 cm. apart with 30 cm. between plants. Sow as for Beetroot.

Succulent broad golden stalks with green lightly crinkled leaves. Very productive.
Light green crinkled leaves with superb flavour. Our preference for taste. Plants to 60 cm.
This true Silverbeet is a favourite for taste. Leaves are smaller and less crinkled than regular varietiest, looking like large Spinach leaves. Can be picked over a long period.
Vigorous, tasty and highly ornamental. Expect stems of red, pink, yellow, cream and in-between shades. Packets only.
Large dark green crinkled leaves with broad white stems. The most common cultivar.
