AUSTRALIAN NATIVES
The following range of Australian Native seed represents only a small selection from a huge range of native flora. We are now sourcing and packing our own packets to allow us to increase the number of species offered. We suggest the use of Seed Starter to improve the germination of many species.
8530: Anigozanthus flavidus
"Green" Flower stems up to 2 m from this very easily grown type. Flowers are green and can be expected from October - February. Vigorous. From Southern WA.
8531: Anigozanthus flavidus “Red”
"Red" Floweing form as above. From Southern WA.
8533: Anigozanthus Manglesii
The floral emblem of Western Australia. The superb flowers are produced on stems to 1 m tall from June - December, often flowering in first year from seed. A sought after cut flower. From Southern WA.
8535: Banksia burdetti
Produces large orange flower heads in profusion, often beginning in the second or third year from seed. Plants grow approximately 2.5 m. tall. From WA.
8536: Banksia coccinea
Round red flowers around 5 cm across. Plants to 1.5 metres. From WA.
8565: Eucalyptus Forrestiana
Shrubby plant to 3 metres with smooth grey bark. Very attractive 4 cm ribbed scarlet buds. From WA. Quarantine Restriction, this item can't be sent to Tasmania.
8570: Eucalyptus macrocarpa
Flowers from this shrubby eucalypt may be up to 10 cm across, attracting nectar feeding birds during its long flowering period. Silver leaves and attractive smooth grey bark. From WA. Quarantine Restriction, this item can't be sent to Tasmania.
8590: Hakea Iaurina
Attractive shrub with long leaves. Flowers are a red ball, somewhat reminiscent of a sea urchin or a pin cushion. Excellent garden shrub. From WA.
8595: Hardenbergia comptoniana
A quick growing creeper, that is useful as a ground cover or climber. Produces masses of sweetly perfumed deep blue flowers mainly in spring. Frost tender but very easily grown. From WA.
8610: Kennedia coccinea
Vigorous perennial climber or ground cover. This attractive native flowers for up to 2 months in spring with clusters of coral pink to red pea-like flowers.
8650: Pimelia physodes
Spectacular eye catching bells of pink and white in groups on strong stems to 80 cm. Prefers mild climates and has potential as a cut flower. From WA.
4570: Seed Starter
Contains “smoke” which when applied mimics the effect of fires to help with germination. Developed by the Botanic Gardens in Perth. Each packet is sufficient for 2 seedling trays.
8653: Swainsonia formosus
Australia’s most spectacular and recognised flowers. Grows best in well drained containers or hot sandy gardens. Flowers in around 3 months.
8670: Xanthorrhea Pressii
Quite easily raised from seed producing an attractive clump approx. 1 m across in 4 years, at which stage a flower can usually be promoted.
